Chapter Summary
Wolf's Point of View
Pup stalks, pretending he is hunting a deer. He thinks that soon, he will be stalking a real deer, or even a Giantfur, once he has his Name. He has the confidence to know he can take on both. He knows that that was how he would stalk, that he would make sure his pack is well fed even during Ice-Wind. Pup gets excited, knowing that it won't only be deer, but also elk and mountain goats. Pup realized that he was hunting a animal that was also looking for prey, a weasel. He gives a sigh, he was expecting better, though he reminded himself to focus. He gets distracted thinking about his Name. Pup realizes that he had lost the weasel but finds it near a rabbit burrow. He makes an attempt to kill it, but it only becomes stunned. The half-dog finally kills the weasel and brings it back to his Mother-Wolf, Graceful, who is amused. Together they carry the prey back to the camp.
